BINCO and ESL

BINCO stands for Biblioteca Infantil Comunitaria or Children’s Community Library.  Each weekday, BINCO welcomes children of all ages to the children’s library to practice reading, work on computers, be creative, learn English, and other community based activities.  They even host parent workshops.  On Monday afternoon, we spent time with the kids in Binco, ages 2 – 12, making sock puppets and singing songs.

We are teaching ESL every morning this week for 3 hours.  We created our own ESL curriculum.  Each day is a different holiday:  New Year’s Eve, Easter, July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  We present related vocabulary, go over grammar, converse, play games and compete.  Each of the 2 classrooms have 4 groups each, all vying for the prize on Friday.

Please pray for our health.  Almost everyone hasn’t or isn’t feeling well since we arrived.
